Thanks Halo Infinite grows another shooter on PS4 and PS5 - what's going on?
Split gate started his Open Beta in August 2021 and has been running on PC, PlayStation and Xbox since then. In November there was a boost of new players — and that is supposed to thank a shooter, which is actually competition: Halo Infinite.
What is that for a shooter? Split gate appeared in May 2019 on Steam in the Early Access and started in August 2021. The shooter reached alone on Steam over 67,000 players at the same time, together with Xbox and PlayStation it should have been over 200,000. More than the servers have held.
In Split gate you play in arenas and at high speed, similar to the classic quake or Unreal Tournament. The trick is that you create portals and so wild traveling across the map.
The style is strongly reminiscent of the popular Halo series and Split gate partly received the subtitle: Halo meets Portal. The game was so popular in a short time that the developers had to paint the release date.
What's about Split gate? Meanwhile, the hype about split gate on steam declined again and on average still play around 2,000 players (via steamcharts.com). The ratings on the PC platform are still very positive.
However, the numbers on PlayStation have risen since November 2021, as the boss Ian Proud reveals (via theloadout.com). And that should not be coincidence, as he says: blame is the release of Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite and Split gate help each other
How does Halo Infinite Split gate? The latest part of Halo is only available on PC and Xbox. Accordingly, PlayStation players who like to play an arena shooter can not join.
However, since Halo and Split gate are quite much resembling, the PS gamers have at least an alternative. They seem to use them as well as the boss in the game numbers.
Incidentally, a version of Split gate optimized for the PS5 should also appear — probably also thanks to the $100 million, which suddenly came as a financial syringe. When exactly, but was not revealed yet. Either way, projects such as split gate show that Indie projects do much right:
How does SILICATE HALO INFINITE? As generally more people are interested in arena shooters, split gate should serve as an entry into the genre. The boss says:
I really think that Halo Infinite and Split gate will help each other long term. There is just as much noise and so many Battle Royales — and [These two games] bring people to the Arena Shooter Genre. There are heaps of kids who have never played Quake or Unreal Tournament [...] to bring them into contact now is good for the genre as a whole.

However, the interest in Halo Infinite and Silicate also stems that the other major shooter titles 2021 were rather sobering for many fans. Because of this, both games also immerse themselves in our list of alternatives:
Disappointed by COD Vanguard and Battlefield 2042? We recommend these 4 shooters!
