Mechwarrior Online apologizes for changing the TRANS RIGHTS and Trans Fights Team Names
MechWarrior Online is a free-to-play automobile simulation video clip game, officially introduced during September 2013 by Piranha Games for Microsoft Windows. The game occurs within the larger BattleTech world.
Mechwarior online all the time live and said quite well. Even competitions are organized and the last competition is the reason for the confusion around the game. Piranha Games decided to change the name of two participating teams: KDCM V: Trans Rights and KDCM VI: Trans Fights.
Shortly after the queue for the ranking games opened, the leaders of both teams were informed that their teams were changed by developers. In the e-mail, there was a message that if a game nor the studio does not support any kind of intolerance (and even for her forbids), so Mechwarrior Online is not an appropriate place to discuss the politics from the real world. For this reason, the name of the teams have been changed.
It also turned out that the reason for the change is also the action of one of the leaders, Daalpacagirl, in the game itself. What was it about? The person had a habit of starting matches from writing Trans Rights . Mechwarior Online prohibits the word trans so as not to feed trolls in chat. It was not a long time to wait for the reaction of the Internet.
The effect is that Piranha Games officially apologized. Developers admit that they should not change the names of teams without learning earlier, what motivations stood behind them. They realize that their actions have offended and injured some people, and they admit that the translates are not a political issue. That is why teams will be able to use their original names and in the future Mechwarrior Online will be more open to such issues.
